Parsons Dance Bronx Theatre reviews
Fishfest was awesome!!!
The event always rocked and the artists as usual. However, the venue was not a great idea due to the stage setting. We had floor seats, but when purchased, you couldn't tell that we would be looking at the backs and sides of the artists.
The artists did a great job working the stage. I look forward to it being in Irvine again next year. If you have never been and you love Christian music, this event is the one to save and go to.
At this venue, they should break up all the vendors being on one concourse. With food lines and bathrooms, it became very congested. Just my opinion.
Do not rush to see this
The woman who played Velma was amazing!!!! I was dissappointed with most of the female cast. The other females in the cast lacked the presence she had on stage. Every little movement, every facial expression, no matter how small, that Velma made, she was present in, the other girls did not have the heat that she did. During individual solos, they came alive, but lacked that presence when they were doing group numbers. The men in company were all fantastic, maybe because they were all gay, they had no trouble going over the top. I was expecting a lot from some of the numbers, particularly the Cell Block Tango, but it just did not get there. The woman who played Velma was 100% into her character, she never dropped the ball, she was always in character whereas the other female cast members would go in and out of character, it seemed.
Tedesci Trucks Band......my drug of choice!!!
Even as we approached the Orpheum, the excitement was palpable. Every piece from beginning to end was to me "perfection"! And from the very first note, we were transported to some higher level where nothing else existed, space and time stopped. As much as I love Susan and Derek, I don't want to take anything away from all the band members. This truly was a complete package! Every minute, loved SO GOOD! And for a time, we were in a musical paradise. These folks are each amazing in their own right, to include those in the background and the sound engineers. The crowd and staff at The Orpheum are like family, so much fun! We'll be back soon for sure. May I add, we simply LOVE The Orpheum!
My wife was star-struck
The venue was well maintained, a really nice intimate place with great staff and lots of security that was very observant to quickly solve problems. Drinks were pricey as expected, but the sound system was not great. There is lots of room for improvement in this area, as it was very muffled and unintelligible at times. The first act was a waste of time, delaying me from getting to the real talent. However, Warren G was a treat to hear and didn't go on so long as to get bothersome. Parsons Dance, the headliner, was excellent! Loads of talent and charisma, seemed to enjoy entertaining us. The concert was really fun as they played a lot of known, popular songs. We were happy to have this opportunity and will see him again given the chance.
